Another year, another yuletide, eh? While we probably don't know one another, this is my third go around at this, and despite promises of being the last time somehow I keep coming back. Funny how that works, huh?
Anyway, thank you for sharing my fandoms, and for doing this. Having been at this for three years, yuletide is one of the most frustrating and rewarding and hair-pulling experiences I have been involved in in my fandom life (which is long, although I am not all that old, but starting before puberty tends to do that) and I hope that you enjoy every moment.
First and foremost, what you need to know is that I am team girl-power all the way. I love and adore strong independent complex women with issues as well as women who grow up and grow into who they are as people. That's what I write and what I read--and my biggest peeve in fandom is the lack of strong, multifaceted women in fics--I don't hate the guys, but I have to hold it down for my ladies. Examples of characters I love include: Tess Harding (Roswell, ya'll), Blair Waldorf (before chuck-ification when she was a HBIC), Sarah Walker (Chuck), Shannon Rutherford (Lost--I actually STOPPED WATCHING the show after she died), Alex, Amanda & Nikita (Nikita, 2010), Cersei Lannister & Sansa Stark (GoT), Lucretia & Illithya (Spartacus: Blood and Sand).
In terms of genre: I prefer gen & het and I am a big fan of angst, ambiguity, and I love manipulation/killing people and shit that makes you cry and/or think.
I've also made a handy-dandy bullet point list below:
* Strong Women
* Power dynamics and their exploration
* Twisted, Dark Fic
* Mental Manipulation
* Bad Boys w/ Hearts of Gold (Michael Guerin, )
* True Blue Gentlemen (Chuck Bartowski, Dan Humphrey, Kyle Valenti)
* Smart Dialogue
* Single-character POV that show a person's motivations and inner workings
* Happy endings for the sake of having a happy ending (but I am totally a fan of rewarding happy endings after a period of struggle)
* Any sort of "play" involving bodily fluids (meaning scat, vomit, blood, enemas and everything/anything else)
* Non-Canon based AUs
* Incest (oddly, though, I'm okay with it on GoT if it's the established stuff like Cersei/every Lannister not named Tyrion)
* Animal Cruelty--I cry at the ASPCA commercials, don't do it.
Anyway, so my requests:
Requested: Emily Thorne & Amanda Clarke. How the two of them grew together and what, exactly, their motivations are and who, truly, is using who.
I love Revenge, I knew, by virtue of bringing Nick Weschler back to my TV every week, it was going to be a contender for favorite new show of 2011, but it's exceeded all my expectations. Emily (by which I mean the real Amanda) is delicious and the twist with Amanda (aka: Real!Emily) is fascinating and something I want to explore. What is their history in Juvie? How, exactly, did Real!Amanda convince Real!Emily to work for her and not against her (there has to be more to it than the money, okay)? What does Real!Emily mean when she says that Real!Amanda is like a sister & what are Real!Emily's intentions with Jack? I don't buy that she's as dumb as Real!Amanda thinks she is.
So please, please, explore their relationship. It's got the potential to be the best one on the show and it's a story that deserves to be told.
Game of Thrones
Requested: Sansa-POV. Darkfic-AU! After Eddard's death, Joffrey manages to manipulate Sansa into his perfect woman (meaning a cruel, vicious queen). How does that happen, and how does that change who Sansa is as a person?
I am fascinated with Sansa. She is by far my favorite character in the show & the books, and her relationships with the Lannisters are so complex. However, my biggest wish is that instead of the Sansa we see, Joffrey manages to successfully sink his claws into Sansa after her father dies (with his Mother's help, of course!) and she turns out to be the most successful player in the game of thrones, but loyal to her "family" the Lannisters. Please go dark with this.
Requested: We've kind of seen Alex be used over and over again as a pawn in both Nikita's and Amanda's plans (and Percy's), so what I would like to see is Alex forging ahead on her own and leaving both of them behind, perhaps taking them both down because it gets in the way of what she truly wants
I love Alex more than anything else on this show and I think you can play with her, because her loyalties have been shaped and re-shaped and she continues to serve as a pawn in someone else's chess game, which her friend, Udi, pointed out before he was killed. So what I want to see is Alex coming into her own, and destroying both Amanda and Nikita in the process. I get that she and Niki are on good terms right now, but that could change at any moment.
So there you have it. My requests. Again, thank you for doing this and in advance for whatever you're writing for me!
PS. I go by the name hauntedd for all my fandom pursuits (including yuletide) and don't really keep all my shit on this journal. I have a horribly under updated fanfiction.net profile and generally write angsty mostly female-driven stories in Roswell (I'm an admin at polarattraction.net), Gossip Girl, Dollhouse, Heroes and a bunch of other fandoms.
Hello! Good morning. Hello. Good morning. (Sorry, sorry). So, the AO3 gods have spoken and given you me as your assignment. Boy, I feel sorry for you! (haha) So, you must be wondering, what in the hell does this chick want? Well, good thing you asked. I like angsty stories (as I told freneticfloetry
fuck the holidays, kill someone!), long walks on the beach, endings that are not exactly happily ever after, and I'm a cancer.
Okay so, dear author, I also adore stories about complex girls with issues. They are my bread and butter and what draws me in. A good, solid female perspective is like the best (I HATE HATE HATE flat female characters), best thing ever, especially when they're doing things that are shades of grey.
Examples of the ladies I love include: Tess Harding (Roswell), Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl), Sarah Walker (Chuck), Mary Bartowski (also Chuck), Adelle Dewitt (Dollhouse), Lucretia and Ilithya (Spartacus: Blood and
As I stated up thread, I am an angst whore and thrive on really messed up imperfect relationships. I don't care for fluff or happy endings just for the sake of a fairytale ending that never quite lives up. I also really like stories that deal with a power-dynamic and playing with it. Especially in a twisted, dark kind of way.
In terms of types of fic I like: Het & Gen. I really don't care for slash or non-canon based AUs. I tend to enjoy a good bad boy with a heart of gold (Michael Guerin, for starters), but I make exceptions for the sweet ones (Chuck Bartowski) and their relationships with aforementioned girls with issues.
I also really do like single-character POV fics if they're done well and include little insights that expose a different side of the characters I know and love. And I like smart dialogue.
My squicks include: rpf (though I'm not requesting that), incest, incest, and well, incest. Oh and the really gross stuff like necrophilia, golden showers, bestiality, scat-play, blood-play, pretty much... if it has a "play" attached, no thank you, seriously.
Okay, so, the requests...( 500 Days of Summer, Chuck, Nikita (2010), Spartacus: Blood & SandCollapse )
But seriously, the fun in this is seeing what anyone can do with what I think I want and make it even better. So, go right on ahead!
And thank you, in advance, because you're awesome.

I've never really written a post-mortem before, so this should be interesting. But this has been the season of fic I nevers
, and what's another one.
This was my first yuletide. It's kind of like the Real World, I thought I knew about it by seeing freneticfloetry
suffer through and rise above last year, but truly I had no idea.
My Yuletide experience was not without a few bumps in the road, not the least of which is that I earned a red badge of courage in writing for a defaulter, but hey, shit happens. And other people like it (this kind of sounds like the fic version of my mom thinks I'm cool, but WHATEVER hahahaha.)
Anyway, I wrote for Roswell and produced A Revenge Play in 3 Acts
, which was not the fic I set out to write when I got my assignment, but it is the fic I did write and I'm proud of it. I kind of lucked out in that regard, because my would-be recip and I matched on two fandoms, Dollhouse and Roswell.
Originally, I was going to write Dollhouse, but then... something kind of clicked and I went with old faithful.
I'm really glad I did. See, Roswell was my first fic fandom. I've grown up with my Ros-fandom friends, met one, will be going to Comic Con with three, seen marriages and babies and spent far too many hours on the phone/im with them. So, I know Roswell like the back of my hand and yet there is something really refreshing about going back and writing Tess and exposing different facets of the same scenes that I've played out a hundred different ways before.
I also wrote Devolution... or Three Times Topher Played the Hero and One Time he Didn't
. which was supposed to be a treat, but I missed the deadline by a hare and posted it early as a New Year's Resolution (and a few other places.) This is actually the second time I've written in Dollhouse (the other time was a spec script), and the first time I've written Topher in any large measure and it scared the crap out of me. This was such a labor of love and something that was so ambiguous until maybe 12/24 and then it just kind of came together after that.
I received lovely fics based on my prompts and they were everything I could have dreamed for and more. I really wanted a Dollhouse fic and was hoping against hope I didn't get matched on Greek, which was kind of a throw away request because I decided last minute that I wanted to do yuletide and couldn't think of a third fandom. Not only did I get my Dollhouse fic, I got 3
I'll probably do a real rec post later when I get around to it, but here are the links:The Artist
by Morgan Briarwood (morgan32).
I can't say enough about this fic, it's everything I didn't know I wanted and more. When I put down Topher/Sierra, I wasn't really sure what I wanted other than wanting something that builds on their dynamic as seen in Belonging
, which was sooo not what I had expected for the two of them after their lighthearted birthday party last season. As a result, my request in my DYW letter was so random and jumbled and hyper. It was so creepy and great and the ending... oh, the ending. You need to read it.Looping Feedback
Oh, man. This was such an interesting and awesome and hot take on my request. I really wanted some Adelle/Dominic and I've been imagining some situation where Dominic dominates her, especially after that scene in Epitaph One
and this delivered on all levels, plus the WAY that he does it is just... oh man. I can't even. It's great.The Upper Hand
by greenripper (sienamystic)
Another take on the Adelle/Dominic sex that I wanted so badly and got. The Adelle in this is spot on and filled with all the sass that you would expect of my favorite morally grey Brit. The Dominic is spitting and angry and how I would imagine he would be after his time in the Attic. Not to mention, it's really hot.
I couldn't have done this without frenticfloetry
as my wicked awesome friend/commiserator and glorious beta who dealt with my whining, procrastinating and finally getting it done oh, two days before it was all due. She has kind of always said that I write like the wind, and I finally am getting what she means.
PS. You should read her fic too.. I betaed it even though I've never read Faking It
: And to All a Goodnight
. It's a massive behemoth of awesome and I definitely recommend it.
Devolution ...Or, Three Times Topher Played the Hero, and One Time he Didn'tCharacters:
Topher Brink, Sierra, Priya Tsetsang, Victor, Echo, Boyd Langton, Dr. Saunders, Adelle DeWittRating:
Characters are the property of Joss Whedon/Twentieth Century Fox. Some dialogue borrowed from 1x10, 1x12 and 2x4Summary:
He's not a prince on a white steed, but he does help people, and maybe that's enough.Spoilers:
Through 2x4 ( He plans his birthday party this year to align with Sierra's schedule.Collapse )
I'm very excited and sorry that you got my list. Excited, because, well, there are things on my list that I really
want... sorry, because, well, there are things that are there because I had to present more than one option. Not that I'm picky, or anything.
This is my first yuletide. I heard all about this last year from my friend freneticfloetry
, who, now in her second year, is somewhat of a yuletide veteran. So, you get to pop my yuletide cherry... and it's all anonymous until it's not... how kinky?
Okay so, first and foremost, I like complex girls with issues -- Tess Harding (Roswell), Blair Waldorf (gossip girl), Sarah Walker (Chuck), Elle Bishop (ohh when Heroes didn't suck...), Ella Simms (the lone saving grace of MP), Adelle Dewitt (Dollhouse & technically a woman)... I could continue. Characters like this are my absolute favorite to both read and write. I hate
a flat female character -- both in fic and on screen.
Secondly, I am an angst whore and thrive on really messed up imperfect relationships. I don't care for fluff or happy endings just for the sake of a fairytale ending that never quite lives up. Through writing about my requests up... I also realized that I am quite a perv. Then again, given what I write, this is not exactly a shock.
Let's see... I like het and gen. No slash, please. I also am big into character driven stories -- though the epic paragraph I made on my adoration for chicks with issues kind of gives that one away. I tend to like broken boys too and their relationships with aforementioned girls with issues. I like interesting observations about characters that expose a different side of them, as long as it makes sense in terms of canon. And I like smart dialogue.
My squicks include: incest, incest, and well, incest. Oh and the really gross stuff like necrophilia, golden showers, bestiality, scat-play, blood-play, pretty much... if it has a "play" attached, no thank you, seriously
Okay, so, the requests...( Dollhouse #1Collapse )( Dollhouse #2Collapse )( ChuckCollapse )( GreekCollapse )
So, there you have it. My requests. They run the gamut from non-con to platonic friendship. Who knew?
PS. I've been in yulechat a lot already, so fair warning if you're looking for a beta. There, I'm hauntedd
and I'll try not to change my nickname.
PPS. It was also recommended that I link my stuff so you get an idea of what I write (and provide stalking fodder since my actual journal is friends only, though I'll totally friend anyone who wants me to), sooo other than this journal, here's my fanfiction.net addy
and my archive at PA
, which includes some fic I wrote nearly 10 years ago... so um... best to read the newer stuff.
PPPS. But seriously, if you can come up with something better, I don't mind.
